On the afternoon of November 24, representatives of Changzhou and its German friendship city Minden had a meeting on future cooperation via video link.
Shen Lian, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, Olrik Laufer, chairman of the Minden-Changzhou Friendship Association, and Katharina Kohlmeyer, responsible for city partnerships for Minden, attended the meeting.
The representatives talked about the two cities’ cooperation achievements in culture, education, sports, and many other fields, and their plans for the coming year.
Noting that the pandemic situation is currently stable in Changzhou, Shen Lian invited Minden to attend virtually the recently delayed events, including Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue 2021 and Friendship City Library Alliance, in the near future.
Stressing the significance of exchanges and friendship between Changzhou and Minden, representatives on the Minden side said they are willing to promote cooperation in sporting events and education programs when the COVID-19 situation gets better.
The city of Minden is part of North Rhine-Westphalia, the most densely populated state in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the cultural, administrative, and economic center of the administrative district Minden-Lübbecke.
Changzhou and Minden officially became friendship cities in January 2016.
