On February 25, GFI Alternative Fuel Systems, a subsidiary of Westport Fuel Systems, signed an agreement with Changzhou Hydrogen Valley to establish a production facility in the industrial park.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Huan Heng, deputy mayor of Changzhou, and David Johnson, chief executive officer at Westport Fuel Systems, who attended virtually.
Westport Fuel Systems, headquartered in Canada, is a global leader in providing advanced fuel delivery components and systems for affordable, low-carbon alternative fuels like natural gas, renewable natural gas, propane, and hydrogen. The company serves customers in over 70 countries with leading global transportation brands.
GFI, a brand of Westport, develops and globally sells hydrogen (H2) and natural gas (CNG) systems and components for on-road and off-road transportation and industrial applications. The new project in Changzhou will focus on research, development, manufacturing, and sales of systems and components for 700 bar (70 MPa) and 350 bar (35 MPa) hydrogen applications.
With a total investment of 10 million USD, the facility will be constructed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed in approximately two years to meet the growing demand for alternative fuels in the Chinese market.
