Recently, a delegation of the Bank of Communications (BCM) headed by Gu Sheng, secretary of the Board of BCM, visited Changzhou. Mayor Chen Jinhu met with the delegation in Zhongwu Hotel.
At the meeting, Mayor Chen expressed a cordial welcome to the delegation and extended heartfelt thanks to BCM for its long-term support to Changzhou. Since the beginning of this year, Changzhou has actively responded to COVID-19 related challenges, said Chen, remarking that the city was able to resume production and work as soon as possible, and has stabilized economic and social development. He regarded BCM as a modern commercial bank with strong capacity in multiple aspects, which has maintained good cooperation relations with Changzhou for many years. Pursuing a new round of high-quality development, the city needs more support from strong financial institutions like BCM, said Chen, hoping to see closer cooperation with BCM in promoting urban construction and old downtown revitalization, supporting industrial development, ensuring people’s basic needs and improving the ecological environment.
Gu Sheng stated that BCM Changzhou Branch will grasp the golden opportunity of the integrated development of Yangtze River Delta, and actively seek cooperation with Changzhou in the city’s major infrastructure projects like the High-Speed Rail New Town, environmental conservation of the Yangtze River and revitalization of the old downtown.
The Changzhou Branch, as one of BCM’s first subsidiaries in mid-sized cities after its restructuring in 1987, currently has the biggest asset size among BCM’s branches in prefecture-level cities. As of this September, BCM Changzhou Branch reserved 7.262 billion yuan to make loans to manufacturing industry, ranking first among the city’s 18 branches of state-owned banks.
Liang Yibo, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and vice mayor of Changhzou, attended the meeting.
