Sheng Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and acting mayor of Changzhou, met with the seven honorary citizens for 2021 on the afternoon of October 9.
Sheng expressed gratitude to the honorary citizens this year for their contribution to Changzhou’s social and economic development, international people-to-people exchanges, and the city’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
She hoped that all the honorary citizens will continue to care for and support Changzhou’s development, and asked for their advice and suggestions.
Jean-Noel Benoit Denis Daguin, senior vice president Asia-Pacific at BOMAG GmbH, on behalf of the honorary citizens for 2021, expressed his joy and pride for receiving this title.
He rated Changzhou as a very attractive city, looking forward to expanding investment here and introducing the city to more foreigners.
The Honorary Citizen of Changzhou is the highest title of being a foreigner working in the city. The award was first issued by the Municipal People’s Government in January 1998 and has been awarded at least every two years. So far, 146 foreigners from 25 countries and regions have received the Honorary Citizen title.
The honorary citizens for 2021 come from South Korea, Singapore, Denmark, Japan, France, UK, and Argentina.
Hang Yong, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, Chen Zhiliang, member of the Party Leadership Group of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, and Zhou Chengtao, secretary-general of the Municipal People’s Government, were present at the meeting.
