During the Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Feb 11 to 17, Changzhou Airport reported a total passenger throughput of 17,000, while its cargo throughput (comprising airfreight and airmail) rose by 4.7 percent to 51 metric tonnes.
Passenger volume during the first four days of the holiday dropped significantly compared to the same period last year, as China's governments at all levels encouraged people to stay put for the Spring Festival holiday as a precaution to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The airport’s passenger throughput started to bounce back on February 16, as more people were returning to work after the holiday. Passengers mainly flew from Taiyuan, Lanzhou, Chongqing and Chengdu. All of these flights had a passenger load factor (PLF) of about 80%.
In terms of cargo throughput during the holiday, the three biggest destinations for cargo tonnage were Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Cargo flights were mainly from Chengdu, Kunming, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, carrying products like tea, mushrooms, seafood and electronic accessories.
During the Spring Festival holiday, the airport’s logistics company launched a luggage shipping guarantee service, tailored to individual passenger needs, thereby continuously improving the quality and efficiency of airport services.
