On July 6, the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of Jiangsu Reliance Energy's manufacturing facility took place in Changzhou National High-Tech District (CND). Sheng Lei, mayor of Changzhou, and Chen Xuan, chairperson and founder of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech Co., Ltd., participated in the event.
The initial phase of the Reliance Energy project involves a total investment of 6 billion yuan and is situated in the Binjiang Economic Development Zone, covering an area of approximately 21.6 hectares. It includes a newly constructed area of about 200,000 square meters dedicated to the research and production of high-rate lithium-ion battery cells. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024 and will have an annual production capacity of about 600 million lithium-ion batteries (14GWh/year). It will also create 1,500 new job opportunities.
CND, with its emphasis on specialty and emerging industries, has attracted over 500 prominent enterprises in the new energy sector, with a total output value surpassing 150 billion yuan. The establishment of the Reliance Energy project will drive the development of the lithium-ion battery industry and support CND's vision of becoming a leading hub for new energy. Additionally, it will accelerate the establishment of a high-quality manufacturing demonstration zone in Jiangsu province.
