Welding work for the Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway, the final section of a loop line around the Taklimakan Desert in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, was completed recently in Hotan prefecture's Minfeng county.
The construction of the national key railway project started in late 2018. The line is expected to start operating in June 2022.
As railway construction work took place through the Taklimakan Desert, it was challenged by raging sandstorms. CRRC Qishuyan Institute’s YHG-1200Q flash-butt rail welding vehicle was used in the welding construction for the 825-kilometer railway linking Hotan prefecture with Ruoqiang county in Bayingolin Mongol autonomous prefecture.
As a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, the Qishuyan Institute plays the leading role in drafting the technical standards for seamless welding equipment for railway rails in China. Mastering the core technology of AC, DC, or new energy welders, its self-developed rail welding machines or vehicles have been widely applied to the welding construction for national railways, subways, urban rails, and trams.
