On November 7, the 2023 Tea Future Development Conference took place in Jintan District, Changzhou. Leading figures and experts from the tea industry gathered in the Mount Maoshan Tourist Resort to discuss the development of Chinese tea.

Jintan District, dubbed as the hometown of green tea, has cultivated a thriving tea industry, with an annual output exceeding 1 billion yuan. It boasts a national agricultural sci-tech park and a provincial demonstration park on modern agriculture. The whole-chain standardization base for tea industry is on the national list of demonstration bases.

Within the district, there is an abundance of tea farms, which are dotted around tourist spots like Maoshan Forest World, Oriental Salt Lake Resort and Jardin Admirable Gardens. Two types of green tea in the area, namely Jintan Sparrow’s Tongue and Maoshan Qingfeng, have become well-known brands at home and abroad.

After years of development, tea-culture sightseeing tours are on the rise, which is another move by the Jintan government to promote rural vitalization through eco-tourism.

At the conference, relevant associations and initiatives were launched to support the future research of tea culture.
