The Changzhou Jiaoxi Historic Town Preservation Regulation has recently been approved at the 20th meeting of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress.
The Regulation, being one of the two local laws formulated last year, was passed at the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of Changzhou Municipal People's Congress on December 17, 2020. It is structured into six chapters and 35 articles, including general provisions, planning and management, maintenance and repair, inheritance and utilization, legal responsibilities and supplementary provisions.
Following the Historic City Preservation Regulation of Changzhou -- the first substantive law enacted by the city -- this Regulation will not only support the protection of Jiaoxi Historic Town, but also facilitate its application to become a World Heritage Site.
The Regulation will come into effect on May 1, 2021, according to the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress.
