Changzhou’s imports and exports in August reached 28.45 billion yuan, an increase of 33.1 percent compared to the same month last year, local customs said.
August exports increased by 25.3 percent to 20.11 billion yuan, an all-time high in the city’s history.
The main contribution to this jump came from shipments of electromechanical products, which grew by 26.3 percent to 12.39 billion yuan and represented 61.6 percent of the total exports.
Shipments of clothing and textile, plastic products, and furniture in the labor-intensive sector represented 21.1 percent of the total exports, up 19.9 percent, 26 percent, and 10.9 percent.
In August, Changzhou’s exports to the United States, EU, ASEAN, and Japan went up 11.5 percent, 23.7 percent, 26 percent, and 21.8 percent.
The value of Imports surged 56.7 percent to 8.35 billion yuan, hitting a new high for Changzhou in August.
Imports of metal ores, electromechanical products, and integrated circuits rose by 133.9 percent, 31.9 percent, and 7.7 percent.
