Five Changzhou-based companies have achieved a historic milestone by making it onto China's prestigious Unicorn List for 2023, as revealed in the latest China Unicorn Companies Research Report 2024.
These companies, namely SVOLT Energy Technology, Trina Solar, Star Charge, Liyuan New Energy Technology, and Horizon New Energy, all operate in the new energy sector. Among them, three are located in Jintan district, one in Wujin district, and one in Xinbei district.
SVOLT Energy Technology, established in 2018 in the Jintan Economic Development Zone, specializes in advanced electric vehicle (EV) batteries and energy storage (ES) systems.
Trina Solar is at the forefront of driving new industries and models through high technology, big data, artificial intelligence, and green development, making it a pivotal figure in Changzhou's technological landscape.
Star Charge, a trailblazer in the charging sector, has played a significant role in drafting all domestic charging standards and has represented China in the development of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. Star Charge dominates the public charging pile market with a 19.59% share.
Liyuan New Energy Technology is a leader in the battery materials industry in China and has been recognized as a potential unicorn enterprise in Jiangsu Province for two consecutive years. The company has introduced several innovative cathode materials, such as the T-series Iron Lithium 1, M-series Manganese Lithium 1, and S-series Endurance 1, which are widely utilized in EVs and ES systems.
Founded in 2017, Horizon New Energy Technology specializes in the research and sales of various wet process base membranes and functional coating separators. The company’s production capacity and ongoing projects for lithium-ion battery separators exceed 2 billion square meters.
These achievements underscore Changzhou's growing influence in the new energy sector and its commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
