On November 9, the data from the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Changzhou showed that Changzhou’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.0% year-on-year, 0.5 percentage points lower than the pace of growth registered in September. The CPI edged down 0.1% on a month-on-month basis.
In October, the prices of transportation and communication, tobacco and alcohol, daily necessities and services, products for personal use, clothing, housing, health care increased by 4.2%, 4%, 3.4%, 3.2%, 2.7%, 0.6% and 0.1% respectively. The price of services of education and entertainment fell 2.6%, while that of food rose 4.9% compared with the same period last year, among which the price of fresh vegetables plunged by 11.4%. The prices of pork and meat soared 45.4% and 23.4%. On a month-on-month basis, the CPI of eight major commodity groups didn’t change much. The price of pork increased 8.1% compared with September, while the price of meat rose by 2.7%.
