On June 28, Pablo Obregón, consul general of Argentina in Shanghai, led a delegation to Changzhou.
Members of the delegation included Laura Antonella Marquez, visa and tourism consul, and Chen Yanhong, an official of the tourism division.
Liang Yibo, vice mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, received the delegation at the Administration Center.
Liang briefed the delegation on Changzhou’s latest achievements in economic and social development.
“Growing towards an international star city of smart manufacturing and a hub in the Yangtze River Delta region, Changzhou has been improving its economic structure with significant achievements,” Liang said.
He hoped that the delegation’s visit this time will enhance the friendly relationship between the two sides to promote exchanges in economy, culture, and other fields based on the platform of Changzhou University.
Obregón highly evaluated the intercultural activities co-organized by the Consulate General of Argentina in Shanghai and Changzhou University in recent years. In particular, the Children’s Painting Competition was reported by one of Argentina’s famous magazines.
Impressed with Changzhou’s history and culture through such events, Obregón was glad to see Changzhou’s rapid economic development these years.
He hoped that through joint efforts, the two sides will extend exchanges and cooperation in more areas.
Also present at the meeting included Huang Shu, vice secretary-general of the Municipal Government, Shen Lian, vice director of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Du Zhifeng, director of the Institute for Intercultural Research of Changzhou University, Xu Shuo, director of the Center for Latin American Studies of Changzhou University (CELA-CCZU), and Esteban Zottele, a researcher at CELA-CCZU.
During their stay in Changzhou, the delegates also visited the Xiyingli Ancient City Wall by the Grand Canal, and the International Friendship Garden and the historic Tianning Temple in Hongmei Park.
