On July 12, the 11th National Low Carbon Day was celebrated in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the progress evaluation report of 81 low-carbon pilot cities, recognizing Changzhou as an excellent city in the national low-carbon city pilot program. Changzhou ranked sixth nationwide and first in Jiangsu province.

This year's event aimed to address climate change and promote green and low-carbon development. Changzhou has actively implemented a "dual-carbon" policy system since becoming a national low-carbon pilot city in 2017. Through comprehensive management of industries and smart transformation, the city has modernized the "Sunan Model" and led the province in reducing carbon intensity. The new energy industry has gained momentum, with significant investments and expected growth in the industry this year. Changzhou is also making progress in the production of new energy vehicles.

In terms of environmental achievements, chemical production enterprises along the Yangtze River have been relocated, demonstrating green development in pollution and carbon emission reduction. Liyang, a county-level city in Changzhou, has been recognized as a national ecological civilization demonstration area, and Tianmu Lake Town has received the China Ecological Civilization Award. Changzhou has also made notable improvements in air and water quality, ranking fifth nationwide in air quality improvement and first in Jiangsu province for water quality.

Changzhou has established the country's only green building industry cluster demonstration zone and the first carbon-neutral refueling station. The city has introduced "carbon emission reduction" accounts for subway passengers, promoted the application of new energy in various scenarios, and provided subsidies for new energy vehicle (NEV) purchases. It has ensured charging access in newly built residential areas and led the country in NEV availability, charging infrastructure, and photovoltaic panel installation.
