Recently, a list of 2021 China’s top 100 influencer cities was jointly released by the 21st Century Business Herald, the 21st Century Innovation Capital Research Institute, the 21 Finance app, and Tencent Cloud.
Changzhou ranks 26th on the list, 16 places higher than last year.
Influencer city, or wanghong chengshi, was coined to describe the places often mentioned on short video or social media platforms. Used to label photogenic metropolises, the term can also be taken literally as municipalities becoming social media stars in their own right.
Cities on the list were rated per their online popularity, city vitality, trending lifestyles, industrial development, and public evaluations.
Nowadays, more and more cities are embracing the idea of becoming an influencer with their unique cultural identity and innovation capacity.
